Installing Indoor Blinds: The Half Price Blinds Checklist

Installing Indoor Blinds: The Half Price Blinds Checklist

How to install blinds

As the proud owner (OK, mascot) for a company that sells do-it-yourself blinds online, it’s no secret that I’m a huge advocate for all things DIY. Not only does it save you, our valued customers, money, it also gives you an enormous sense of satisfaction. Just think of how good you felt when you finally got around to putting up that kitchen shelf or making that birthday cake from scratch. Now imagine feeling that sense of accomplishment every day when you open or close blinds that you installed with your own two hands!

Helpful Hints

Before you fit a blind (or blinds), here are some hints for an easy installation process.

• Use a steel measuring tape (not wood or plastic) to get the most accurate measurements.

• Ensure you know whether your blinds are recess fit or face fit before you start the install process.

• Double check the packaging to ensure you’ve got the right number of screws, mounts, and hardware to successfully install your new blinds.

Before Photo

No do-it-yourself project can be started without taking a snap of how things looked before! After all, how else will you be able to brag to your friends and family about what a great job you did without having something to compare the finished product to? Take pride in what you’re about to accomplish and snap away (and don’t forget to tag us in your pictures @halfpriceblinds).

Unpack Blinds

Once the photo has been taken, it’s time to get your hands dirty. Start by unpacking the box or packaging your blinds came in but be sure to take your time and do it in a tidy area. The last thing you want is to lose an important tool or piece of the product and be left with an incomplete set of blinds in your home.

Follow Install Instructions

Whether you’re trying to learn how to install roller blinds or how to install outdoor awnings, It’s important to note that installation of each different type of window treatment may vary for each product. It may seem like a daunting task; however, the process isn't nearly as difficult as it might sound. To install most blinds, all you’ll need to do is attach the brackets using a drill, place the head rail into the brackets, attach the valence to the head rail, and secure the blind wand, cord or chain to complete the process.

I've made it my goal to make the installation process as easy as possible for you with step-by-step instructions. So, once your brand new blinds arrive, simply jump onto Half Price Blinds online and select the product you will be installing from my handy how-to install guides listed here. Once you’ve selected the right product, you'll find the step-by-step instructions plus videos that will show you exactly how to install your new blinds.
